Sturgeon Fishing:
Columbia River

Astoria/Estuary Sturgeon
June - July

Columbia River Sturgeon are one of the main angling attractions in the Pacific Northwest. They grow to massive proportions, some to well over 1,000 pounds. Regulations prevent us from retaining fish that size, since that is where the broodstock is derived.

Keeper sturgeon measure 42"- 60" and are a Halibut-type meat that is absolutely delicious. A well-fed, 60" fish can push 100 pounds and give you all you can handle during the fight. Over 1,000,000 sturgeon live between Bonneville Dam and the mouth of the river. That's about 6,800 fish per river mile, giving anglers the best sturgeon fishing anywhere. Reserve Now

Columbia River Sturgeon
I like the idea of hooking lots of 25 pound sturgeon in 5 to 10 foot of water with salmon gear.

This is the most popular sturgeon fishery in the Northwest, with warm weather and the best sturgeon  fishing around.

Limits are very common in the Estuary and there’s no better way to do it than with light tackle. Anchovies, smelt and sand shrimp are all favorites for the sturgeon in this area.
